I was planning to write a blog post about the rise of Chat AI and GPTs. However, this morning I received email that I got access to the new Bing and it revolutionized that idea in the instant. I could not resist, but try it myself for various cases and I also discovered why this is really changing my work and the future. The fact that the new Bing is using GPT-4 and has access to information that was just recently published.
Edit 14.3.2023. It was revealed today that Bing Chat has been using GPT-4 all the time. OpenAI released today GPT-4 and first customers using it.
Edit 20.2.2023. Messaging which version GPT Bing Chat is not clear. I am reverting back to what was mentioned by Microsoft in their Blog post: “Next-generation OpenAI model. We’re excited to announce the new Bing is running on a new, next-generation OpenAI large language model that is more powerful than ChatGPT and customized specifically for search. It takes key learnings and advancements from ChatGPT and GPT-3.5 – and it is even faster, more accurate and more capable.” Basically that Bing Chat is using some version of GPT which is more advanced than GPT-3.5, but there hasn’t been a statement from Microsoft it would be GPT-4 either.
Also: Bing Chat is now limited to 5 questions per one one topic. This one limits its use for sure, since you can’t have a long iterative conversation with the AI anymore. It caused some unwelcome issues when people were hacking Bing to stray to paths that were bad. I understand that there has been also some more content filtering added, making Bing more responsible and politically correct (or biased in some cases). These moral guards / fences will limit the use but when thinking how Bing should be used, for helping to find information and to generate drafts , I don’t think these are not too bad. As usual – don’t take everything for granted without checking.

The new Bing is revolutionary
I run a conversation with the new Bing, asking it to help me to write this blog post in a sense. What could have taken me easily two hours or more, the new Bing was helping me to put this all together in less than 60 minutes.
15-20 minutes of that time went to my own insights (this beginning) and also doing some proofreading of reply texts. I could have just taken my first question to Bing and do nothing else. But that would have been no fun, and it would have not shown the true capability of the new Bing here.
Yes, I did took the title as provided. It was better one than what I could have come up right now. Catchy, Clickbait and also clear & short enough.
What I did test also, was how the new Bing can switch between languages – in my case I of course wanted to use Finnish because it is not that easy for AI. And it is my natural language. The conversation I had with Bing, I switched between English and Finnish, without telling Bing what language I was using. And it just works! This is one of those things I was truly amazed.
Of course the feedback on the blog post relates to the draft Bing itself wrote.

Yes, I am very excited about the new Bing. This just changed how I am searching for information and is also increasing my productivity. Although I do have to admit that this morning my productivity went sideways when I was testing out what the New Bing can do! 😂🥳😎
There also also some limits. One of those is max 2000 characters limit and Bing can not access external sources.
I can envision myself using Bing to speed up writing process. Getting new ideas and also having it summarize or evaluate some parts. This is the future how we are going to work – save time to be more innovative. Yes, I could make it simple and just generate texts with this one – but what would be the value? Use GPT to increase productivity and add your own insights and innovation there. I am very excited about this tech!
